Iron & Wine covers The Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses.”
I’ve loved this song ever since Luke sent it to me sophomore year in college. One day, out of nowhere, I received an email with the header: “listen to this right now.” A single music file was attached. I had no idea it would blow my mind so fucking hard. Truly good covers have a way of making the song new. They aren’t cheap imitations. They aren’t ghost songs. They manipulate form, feel, and texture. A call and response to what was and what is.
Three years later, I’m still sitting at this keyboard marveling. That’s some good art, right there.
Listen to this right now.
